There was a very special man
That blessed us here on earth
But he had to go to heaven
Just one year before your birth

We wanted him to see you
But it just wasn’t meant to be
And it all but broke our hearts
That this baby he’d not see

But when our eyes first fell upon you
Tears of joy began to pour
For you brought with you a message
Spoken of in Irish lore

You looked so sweet and peaceful
Laying there so mild and meek
The blessing you brought with you
Was a dimple on your cheek

It is said the dimple is a sign
That by an angel you were kissed
And we all believe that angel
Is the man we have so missed

And now a peace is with us
A peace to never be reversed
The man we thought would never see you
Had in fact seen you first

Jack Roberts – March 8, 2003

I wrote this poem by request for a friend of ours. The baby was born with a dimple. His grandfather passed away one year to the day prior to his birth.
