Hilltop

Willow rush upon my eyes.
Brush of stony earth ‘gainst my heart.
Each day tearing out the sun.

Each day climbing long cold hill hike.
Dusty roads behind. Sun in sight.
She’s holding on, far away.
Pretty and purple, needing.

The mad machinery of inferno drums.
The mad machinery of inferno’s collapsing down.
Autumn leaves hang off a chain.
Springtime buds burst out.
Fickle deer fawning over newest coat.

Got matches my hand, tea my mind.
Green tables, crowds staring, me sitting.
Controversy another reason to grin.
Shame, can’t pay my bill.

No more machinery, grow! – Find out how to garden.
Get well rewarded, karma ain’t forgetful.
If the flowers aren’t growing, what then?
Cold jazz hilltop night – anyone left to say goodbye?

Down stormy hill top stairs, trip on up!
I’m floating, not falling down.
Know where the stones lay in the water, you’ll fly.

There’s a willow rush upon my eyes.
Brush of stormy cloud ‘gainst my head.

I read this poem three time and really got into it. It is a very good thought provoking write. I'm into the willows also, I love the wilderness. tkcare Grady

I repeat lines in my poetry sometimes....I love that......it's reinforcing, grounding even.. This one wrote itself yeah? It flows that way....fluid with on occasion the spray of thoughts lifting as it dances off the movement of deeper thought...Truly great

This was such a lovely poem, filled with such beautiful images that just fill the heart with joy, I love these lines:

Down stormy hill top stairs, trip on up!
I’m floating, not falling down.
Know where the stones lay in the water, you’ll fly.

Just so lovely,

Lots of layers and much for me to think about.
My choice..
"Down stormy hill top stairs, trip on up!
I’m floating, not falling down.
Know where the stones lay in the water, you’ll fly."
