Lost to Found

I sit alone in my room thinking, wondering
Re-living moments, re-living times past
I wonder what happened? What did I do?
I think over & over & over & over again
What could I have done differently?
I sit and I think and I sit and I wonder
And I sit and I cry and I think and I cry
I think, I wonder, I question
And I cry and I cry
I feel so ugly I know I must look a hot mess
I hide from mirrors
Time passes
Tick…tock…tick…tock…tick…tock
Time passes – the pain stays
The pain stays to punish me, to haunt me
To remind me of how awful a person I must be
My whole life is a series of pains and disappointments
One after another after another after another
Is there no end?
Why me? Why is it always ME!
Maybe I’m getting what I deserve
Am I some God-awful person that doesn’t deserve better?
If so, then what is it that makes me that way?
What is it that I’m doing wrong?
Somebody tell me? Somebody please!
I can’t keep hurting like this
Some get high, some get drunk, and some lose their minds
What will I do?
I could give up. Why should I try?
Get up just to get knocked back down again?
I don’t know what to do
Depression
I can’t stay here. I have no where to go.
Then I think…I need love too
I deserve to be loved. I want to know what that’s like.
Why can’t ‘I’ find love?
I look at everything and everybody around me
Finally, I look inside me
I see all the pain. I am filled with pain
But why only pain? Why don’t I see anything else?
I began to search for other emotions inside myself
The more I searched the clearer I saw myself
I saw good and bad in me
I saw that the bad was real bad
I had no self-esteem
I did not have any real love for myself
I was depending on the reaction of others to determine
What I should think of myself
I had to learn how to accept myself
I had to learn how to love myself
I had to find out who I was
I found self respect and self esteem
I found self confidence
I found that people reacted to me differently
I found that I could accept myself for who and how I am
I found I could love myself
I found myself

Nothing better than a good ol' self-examination poem to kick start the muse, is there? And you get the added benefit of the reader nodding his/her head as they wrap themselves in your words. Places we've been or places we'll go, feelings we all understand. I'm nodding...and saluting.

Bravo! We all have this walk to make, some do it some don't. That you did it is a testiment to your character. Hope you know you are special! Well done!

You're the best friend you will ever have. Opps. Someone already said that, didn't they? Truer words were never spoken.
Peace,

I can relate to this poem about the pain side but it hard so hard to get that final upward look of finding your self but this was a nice and inspirational poem for people like me

Your favorite poets on your bio...some of my favorites too :) I REALLY REALLY REALLY, I mean, REALLY can relate to this. Pat yourself on the back..I liked this. I could even feel the rhyme scheme in here....creative with that....it sounds so natural. Feels good to find :) ~ Thank you, Teresa
