The infield is waiting for us the players
and he the umpire waits for the first throw
There stands you and I up to bat
not knowing where the ball will go
all bases are loaded, waiting for the hit
hoping that it will be a home run
for life throws us a curve one now and then
and many times it's just no fun
Sometimes the crowd is with us
they do leap and cheer us on
but God forbid that we ever foul up
for when we look again they all have gone
we stand alone in the barren field
wondering if we should try again
knowing the cheers has ceased from our ears
and we have so much to amend
the clock is ticking we have to catch up
to make that big score, of a life time
for the balls in our corner we have to proceed
and kick all doubt clear out of our minds
life's trials play, many a roles
at each turn a challenge is there
sometimes it comes even in the good
and we find ourselves saying, it's just not fair
I would like to think I'll catch every ball
and even score every base that I face
but then knowing this is why, they call it a game
and our victory comes at the end of the race
so as we take our stand at the plate
we the players, must aim up high
bypass the low balls and crooked curves
and take the promise's, God sends by
Home Run!!!
