Best Friends

Beautiful friendship is so hard to find,
People are fickle and love can be blind.
But there is something we must not forget…
Special affection that comes from a pet.

Such is the love that I sometimes will see
When I am lucky it comes right by me.
Two special friends that I pass on my walks…
Both of them love but just one of them talks.

Each time I see them it blesses my heart,
Two special friends that are never apart.
These are two hearts that are keeping the rules…
Both of them love but just one of them drools.

I even saw them the 4th of July
Watching the fireworks that flashed through the sky.
They often play in our beautiful parks…
Both of them love but just one of them barks.

Beautiful friendship is what they have found-
There is not much of that going around.
And it’s a bond that they never will lose…
Both of them love but just one sniffs my shoes.

Is there companionship better than this?
One is a dog and the other a Miss.
Neither one ever must go it alone…
Both of them love but just one chews a bone.

I have a friend but it’s not in the mood-
It’s just my friend when I’m giving it food.
I do believe that my problem is that
One of us loves and the other’s a cat.

But just last night as I lay in my bed
This crazy kitty cat climbed on my head.
Friendship is beautiful when it occurs…
Both of us love but just one of us purrs.
