The storm sea churns
a million plastic trinkets,
Gifts to her donated by land dwelling bipeds.
Neither requested, nor cherished,
Tossed and turned they ride the rough tide.
Cast to shore gathering in undignified heaps,
Wanted by no one, discarded by many.
Scarring clean beaches with man made colours.
Polluting nature without a care.
Plastic bottles, buckets and tyres,
Flip flop sandals, spent gun cartridges,
And carrier bags, spew among their victims.
A cormorant, a gull, a dolphin.
One hundred thousand mammals,
And a million birds forfeited.
