What booze does to human love!

Tonight was the night I waited
To see if I counted
Tonight I found out I didn’t
Or not as much as I hoped

I needed to hear your voice
Sing to me on the wind
Tonight I needed your warmth
Inside my head, inside my heart.

The warmth didn’t come
Instead I got the cold shoulder
I guess her liquid love
Was so much more to you

I know she keeps you warm
And daily you hold her
In your hand you caress her
Then inhale her into your heart

Her warmth has made you cry
But you still want her amber joy
Her love has made you sick
And still you need her comfort

I need warmth too, now more then ever
But, I am denied my due
So what do I do now? Live alone?
While you continue to hold her?

Oh that bottle is a tease
Gives you false security and hope
I offered much, much more
But now I feel abandoned

Maybe some day you will know
Just what you are throwing away
So that liquid love can possess you
A love that’s death by the fifth

Sandi, this is a powerful poem. It's sad that its true. A person that uses alchol misses the beauty of life and a marriage. I'm glad ur going to publish a book and am anxious to have a copy. Dean

Wow. This poem has impact.
As a psychotherapist who has worked with those suffering from alcoholism, this is a gem. Certain astrological combinations seem more addictive, yet for different reasons.
Well done.

Stunning write, Sandi!! Wrenching, bitter, poignant, many emotions to enthrall the reader! And a very strong message that your words portray so humanly.
