Many children of today, need a voice
someone to care and give them hope
It's not always in what we perceive
that they want to destroy their lives with dope
I wonder did anyone stop to ask
why are you acting that way
did they once take time to find out why
that they don't want to face another day
it's wrong to say to them that you don't care
about whatever they go to do
and say to them they will never mount to anything
well that's not what they want to hear from you
Oh if but only you could see their hearts
the many wars they are fighting within
then you wouldn't be so quick, to give them up
but will help bring their hurts to an end
all across America kids are dying
in one way, or the other
some have, no fathers and mothers
nor even a sister or brother
There are children out there raising themselves
no one to cook them a nice warm meal
mom has a career, dads out with the boys
and it's saying them, it's no big deal
it's not wrong in having a good job
and for dad to have a little free time
long as the child's not forsaken and abandoned
which can cause damage to their mind
It doesn't take all day to say the words
I love you
or make sure everything is going right
for something could, had happened that day
that they had to carry it through the night
no wonder God said, to suffer little children
and it was no matter what age they be
and he said forbid them not to come unto him
and his word was given for us to see
so I pray that God will stir up our hearts
to reach out and offer a hand
and let it not matter who's child it be
let our love spread all over the land
