I'm still reprinting some old optimistic stuff from Y-P, hoping it will inspire me. so far no luck

Fallen star

They had closed the show tonight
Two days after opening
And she, its bright new star
Was fading
Her hopes and dreams
She was now trading
The heavy velvet curtain swished behind
as she stepped out onto the terrace
Nineteen floors
Above the city
No one knew she was here
She wasn’t asking
For pity
She wanted only solitude and nerve
The nerve to do what she
Planned to do
And the solitude to do it without
Interruption or to-do
To step quietly off into the night
The same way she had come here
That something better awaits her
For she surely had not
Found it here
Where all her dreams had started
And now will end
All she holds dear
Stops here tonight on this lonely terrace
In this unforgiving city
As she stands gazing at the sky
Saying silent goodbyes
Not offering any excuses
Not telling herself any lies
She sees a star in the nighttime sky
Far above the earth
She’s thinking
About how long ago that star sent this
Twinkle of light
To show her a touch of brightness
On this fatal night
She asks herself a question
From deep inside her heart
And the answer to that question
Came to her with a start
How can I be ready to give up
Because I do not shine
When this little star
Billions of years ago
Sent its light
In its dying moments of glory
To make my night sky bright
Perhaps I need patience
Not oblivion
Maybe my light is out there
Waiting to reach this place
Waiting to shine
This star has had its time
Perhaps I too will
Have mine
Maybe someday
My star will shine
