It was a soft summer night
along about the month of June.

It was a soft summer night
along about the month of June.
The moon was high, the breeze was gentle
and the crickets were all in tune.

The trees swayed and the music they brought
was wondrous to hear and made you sigh.
A brook gurgled, babbled and urged you
to a pool and waterfall that was nearby.

Yellow daffodils and sunny daisies poked
their heads out of thick carpets of green.
Lilies and Crocuses swayed and waved
their petals to a rhythm heard but not seen.

Frogs on their lily pads, bass and tenor,
alike, sung a duet to the clouds and sky.
Dragonflies made lazy circles above the cattails
and baby birds were learning how to fly.

This all feels like a winter’s night dream,
so sunny, warm and seemingly so far.
But in my daydreams they will always
be shining brightly, no matter ‘when’ we are.
