life spills

beautiful night
almost tropical
crescent moon
life is good
wind up the harley
stop at the hospital
check out
the new kid on the block
neighbor’s son born 1:11 pm
new life
two errands almost home
grilling up steaks on the mind
gated community
walk through gate
who wants to stop to punch
numbers
we always inch through
the walk through
and right then I get a flash
we’re gonna dump it
just knew
soft earth squirrelly and
we’re going down
and I don’t have life flashes
all I’m thinking is
don’t try and hold this thing up
keep your friggin Legs out of the way
500 lbs of bike on the pavement
on me
skidding to a stop
and we’re both scrambling up
and the dude is yanking the bike
you ok? you ok?
and I’m sitting there
shaking
thinking
ok there you go, little spill, life is good
damn my knee hurts
damn my shoulder hurts
and damn
Listen To Your Intuition
and next time take the
friggin
gate puncher
and buy some damn leathers

My husband just bought a used Harley and is refurbishing it. I can't wait for us to take the "spills" along with the wind! Great write!

I do this every day! Hug yourself in a hot girly smelly bubble bath...put a few tea lights in there....shut the lights off and think nothing at all...with a box of chocolate ;) lol...people ask "How do you do it all?" and my reply is "Try iy one time, you'll see..you have to." -- I totally understand this :) Teresa

Josie, great write. Hate when that happens. Received many road burns in my life. Fortunately lucky and still here. Glad it all worked out for you.

although your shoulder and knee hurts, glad you're okay...and i love the way you tell the story! you are unique among poets, josie...one of my very favorites, because you can write about ANYTHING! your words capture the imagination from the get-go, and linger after the last word is read...outstanding! (((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
