I Am Adrift...

I came to you,
I know not why...
Maybe it was something,
In the way you smiled.
There was always a way about you,
That said you understand,
I never felt like,
You had some master plan...
To you then I wandered,
Lost and confused,
And though you sought
To give me direction,
I always seemed to lose-
Still drifting on the wind,
Letting it pull me way to thin,
And though you threw me an anchor,
The rope came in a blur...
I could only watch sadly,
As it sank to the ground,
And though I listened,
Could not hear the sound,
Of your lovely voice calling my name,
As I followed that rope,
Like it was a game...
Felt it slip through my hands,
Like grains of sand-
Looking back now,
I see what kind of man,
You must have been,
To try to save,
Someone like me...
It's alright my friend,
You don't have to try again-
I think I'd rather,
Just drift with the wind...

| Retta, I felt this one deep inside. Sometimes it's harder to be saved than it is to drift. Glad you didn't drift too far. |

Oh Retta, that last line put a lump in my throat the size of a grape-fruit. I 'feel' this in my heart.
