As time goes by
The rift between us
Fills in and mends
The hurts wrought
On both sides of
The river bank
Of our lives
And the torrent of tears
That flooded the
Chasm of my sorrow
As we start to speak again
And send out smiles
In our reaching out to each other
I know now that you and I
Will be forever
In whatever way we can
Perhaps the only expression of love
I will know with you
Will be through an exchange of words
Rich with thought
And in my dreams
I will recall your eyes
Looking deeply into mine
Our stares locked into eternity
Of never ending love
You and I will out last
And the commitments made to others
For we are as one love
Just you and I
My apologies to Tinka Boukes if any of this sounds familiar. Her poems echo in my head quite often. Also, they often speak to me in a way I think only she understands. I could not ask for anyone to be a better inspiration than her.
