"When you overlook the ordinary, you overlook the extraordinary".
The quiet early morning hours,
Fresh coffee with real cream.
The smell of rain on dewy grass,
Sweet remnants of a dream.
Mom’s chicken soup on chilly days,
A fireplace, gold with flames.
A cozy place to read a book,
Snowflakes on windowpanes.
A walk in early morning fog,
Hot cocoa, made from scratch.
Long distance calls from family friends,
My best blue jeans with a patch.
Red leaves from trees on windy days,
My old slippers warm my feet.
Pressed flowers left in reading books,
The fresh smell of laundered sheets.
Old hats found in the attic’s dust,
My childhood rocking chair,
Worn from little hands and feet,
Of generations, who sat there.
A shoebox full of jewelry beads,
Left from my mother’s days,
Remind me of her fragrance,
And her sweet and gentle ways.
Young or old, these things I hold,
As my priceless trove of treasures.
So dear and near, the heart of me,
In my life, of “ordinary pleasures”.

|Nostalgia, so easy to add my personal pleasures to that list, but it certainly does make a person remember. Such a good poem. Thank you.|

|Bonnie you have a rarified and very gentle touch in your poetry. Makes me feel like I am sipping tea from precious china. Makes me feel I am close to a lady with dainty and
exquisite tastes. You are you Bonnie, someone I know from the Heavens. Did you descend to earrh to teach me manners and to show how elegant life can be, if you are alive and ready for it? Love it! Bill
