This is my Mason, the Golden Child of my poetry.

"We don't enherit this world from our ancestors, we borrow it from our grandchildren". This Haida Indian Proverb is just reason to donate my energies toward peace and harmony for a better world. I do this for Mason and Bryce and all the children of the Universe and the best part of all of it is...it's a pleasure.

Mason's First Steps
Susan K. Rowse

Tiny blonde dimpled wee child
With four teeth smiling back
Head tossed back with angel curls
Like a deisel gone off-track
Giggles charming echoed halls
Padding tiles of black and white
Scraped knees all red without a care
Makes two steps then stands in fright
Clumsiness and uncertainty
Challenges all the same
Two more steps... he hugs the walls
Struggling silly one, all a game
Clapping hands he braces
Again his arms reach out
Four steps and then he makes it
Into my arms and shouts
This angel sent from heaven
With sugar-coated smiles
These first few steps a challenge
To later walk a mile.
