This was a first love. Many moons ago. ( lol ) Sometimes it just doesn't work out. This is short and sweet just as our relationship was.

I thought of her today.
That wanton smile
crashes through my subtleness,
with memories forbidden.

I gave her my heart.
Tore it from its cavity and
handed over without question...
She needed more.

Words were not enough.
She wanted commitment.
Now and forever...
The rush faded quickly.

Ultimatums, she gave many.
I accepted none.
Farewell my sweet,
A first love.

I remember my first love, too. I didn't ask for commitment, just the exclusivity he required of me. Ah, but I loved him so, as you said, many moons ago. Thank you for reminding me of him with your poem!

commitment - if she wanted more than your heart -she was more like possessive....*smile*

Paul,
I remember my first love too, and this made me smile, he did not want to commit either,or maybe it was me who wouldn't! <smiles> Now I am glad we didn't! lol! Funny how that happens! I agree with LaBelle, you are a romantic!

Hugs,
Maria
