i been a drinker
& i been a drunk
all the good things
in my life
i packed up
in that old trunk

i put 'em there
i couldn't see
they wouldn't be
so much
a part of me

packed away
all the memories
all the used ta' be's
stacked away
all the wanna' see's

there in that old trunk
locked 'em away
saved 'em for a rainy day
knew they's never go away

then i got drunk

all the pictures
of you & me
didn't want ta' see
old fixtures
of how things used ta' be

all the Valentines' cards
birthday & christmas
guess i'll miss 'em
sure it'll be hard
playin' this hand
with theses cards

all the old memories
locked away
in that old trunk
all the used ta' be's
& wanna' see's

then i got drunk

& i thought
about that old trunk
& all the memories
& all the used ta' be's
& i all i could see's
was the wanna' be's

i used ta' be a drinker
now i'm just a drunk

& all my memories
are locked up
in that old trunk

all my memories
are locked up
in bein' drunk
