gimme back my hour of sleep!
i don't sleep all that
even the mere threat
of severe storms
is guaranteed
to make for a
restless night
gotta watch the radar
hoping against hope
it don't turn
pain in my body
uncle arthur has
moved in
i want him
to move OUT
he doesn't just
stay in one
he travels
oh the back looks nice
so do the feet
methinks i'll stay here
a while
get too cold
or too hot
sometimes real
woolly ones
real screamers
that'll ruin the rest
of the night
my twin sister
like a freakin'
freight train
*is that a tornado*
nope only my twink
turn over
she does
ahhhhh peace and quiet
for 'bout two minutes
then she's at it
any position
twink can snore
weather radio
"alert standby"
set the thing on
before bed
go to sleep and
if bad storms
develop or enter
your area
*earsplitting screech*
that sucker's LOUD
loud enough to wake
me and twink
but also both sets
of neighbors
possibly the dead
whom i'll be joinin'
if that thing
gives me a
sudden heart attack
gotta stay prepared
only bad thing
once in a while
signals get crossed
it tones an alert
for johnson county
i live in johnson county
worries about bills
worries about family
worries about friends
the news
images of terror
played and replayed
over and over
and over and over
and over again
will i ever sleep again
they stole an hour
of sleep from me
daylight savings time
and i want it back

Yes, I want that hour back, too! But next time you can't sleep, don't count to the Shepherd. He's up all night anyway. :) Enjoyed this rant!

You remind me of my siste-in-law. She also complains of that hour stolen. But you'll get it back end of summer. Excellent poem though.
