When you think all is lost remember where you have been. I was born in Germany in 1958. My mother was German, my father Black and American Indian. This is a small sample of where I have been...

On the day that I was born
hate engulfed the doctor's
pores
He saw not an innocent babe
with loving father and mother
so elated
Instead I remember his beady eyes
glaring at us, wanting us to die.
My mother's blood filled every tile
a ghostly reminder of Hitler's smile

God's love and spirit engulfed
the place
it filled our minds with spirit peace
We rose above the voracious hate
and floated gently toward our fates

Some years ago I dare not remember
the Grim Reaper came to my mother
in the form of cancer
I'll never forget her lovely eyes
grayish/blue filled with life's
desires
She instilled her strong will into
my very fibers

Now on we go to the man I most admire
his honesty, integrity and willpower
continues to mold and shape me to
this day
Since life can be cruel there's more
to my fate
One year ago almost to this very day
my father went to his heavenly place

Now alone I sit so many days
left with whirlwind memories
If not for God's saving grace
for family and friends alone
I would stay
I clutch and carress the beauty
around continuing my search
for humanity

For there shall be peace in my valley...
