saw you
with your new love today
i knew
there wadn't much i could say
time ta' just let you go
your way
maybe another day
i'd have sumpin' ta' say

but then he squared
his shoulder
& he got bolder
& he gave me a grin
right there
right then
i knew
what i's gonna' do

so i gave him a smile
let him think
about it while
then i took your hand
gave you a small kiss
then i looked at the man
square in the eye

looked at you darlin'
said goodbye

looked at him
gave him a grin
then
i kicked the shit outta him
fuck him
shouldn't ever
a given' me that grin
guess he didn't figger
i ain'nt never gonna be
a has been

and she looked at me
shook her head
said
"guess he's lucky
aw let it go.
he didn't know
i nevere'd let it show
that i love you
& you love me
hell darlin'
just let him be.
forget the grin.
go on
begin again
find yourself someone new
that's all
i'm tryin ta' do"
so i said ok,
it'll be that way

but tell him never
ever
grin at me again
not 'n less
he wants it
again.

not less he wants ta' begin
ta' meet some new friends

saw you with your new love today
wadn't nuthin'
i could say
but sure as hell
knew how ta' play

you know me
ain't no other way

maybe another day

Evenin, back to read you after modem trouble and more jazz than imaginable. Anyway. its good but seems to lack the usual punch of your work. No idea why though. Maybe its the time of evenin.
