The violence of some of the responses to unpopular postings
apalls me. Civil discourse is becoming decidedly uncivil around here.
In hockey parlence the game is getting downright chippy.
Naming names would be counter-productive sooo

A battle was a shaping up
In the poets room one night
Who knew what it was about
‘Course, we were all quite tight

The fight it seemed was over the merits
Of verse blank and free, heroic couplets
Haiku or sennru, quatrain, muletrain
Coldtrain. Yeah, a tale told by idiots

Reason and logic soon gave way
To the language of the gutter,
The debate became ad hominem
The poets insulting each other:

“You blankety-blank blank versers
Give buggery a bad name”“Your
Friggin’ effeminate flatulence
Called free verse by you, your

Moral turpitude doth display”
The sonneteers thought the rest
Willfully evil in the extreme.
The romanics opined at best

The others where impotent or
Frigid or both. No hope of peace
For in their zeal for invective
They had forgotten about the piece...

Hi John,
I thought this was great, metaphoric content or not, I am not sure I understand Eileen’s comments, obviously I have missed some thing by being away.
No doubt some one will tell me sooner or later, I would hate to see anyone offend the old dear.

This is great, but I take it you were only using the poetry as a metaphor it was really about the war;-)! AmI right. I hate it too and hope the rhetoric here is over soon, I fell into having to defend myself, but hopefully I can ignore any more assauts on my character. Sorry if it was any of my posts that offended you, it was not my intention. I hope we can get back to poetry on this sight which I have been a part of since its inception and refuse to be bullied by a few of the people who don't like my mention of scriptures. Which I know you are not one of them;-)Thank you.
