Dad

Memories captured on paper
Moments saved through time
Theres me on that old swing set
And the tree I loved to climb
Dad, how can I thank you
For all the years you have given me
Don't think I didn't notice
The love given so willingly
Now that I'm about to leave you
I'll cherish you even more
You'll always be my Hero,
The Dad I love and adore

So many mixed feelings on
My wedding day
So much inside of me that
I want to say
I will miss you Dad,
Your gentle but firm hand
I could talk to you about anything
You would always understand
You had to be both Mom and Dad
Through most of my life
I remember the good times, and
The times of sacrafice

Today you try to hide your tears
As you give me away
You will stand proudly by my side
As I carry my bouquet
Dad, I will still be your daughter
I'll always be here for you
Never hesitate to call, if
Theres anything I can do
In leaving you in marriage
You will live alone
Dad, my heart will be with you
Even though I'll be gone...

Linda, beautiful poem and tribute. Your dad must be proud of you. I gave 2 of my 3 daughters away already and it was hard each time but they know that I love them dearly.
