the years my two youngest were born were dry on the prairies. i recall driving along the Number 1 hiway (sask) at a place were one could normally see several miles: That day the semi' in the oncoming lane were invisible beyond 75-100 meters.

this tanka suits my mood tonight

dust blanked horizon
contours and landmarks all gone
remembering drought
brings notice of love parched heart
full of dust blanked memories
