If You Can Know

Strange thing about the distant past
The way my heart has made it last
The power of love so strong- so vast
Yet keeping me with you.

No matter what I do or say
Or how I view our paths today
My heart belongs to you some way.
I know that this is true .

Such lessons that we have to learn.
I know somewhere I missed a turn.
My soul, for you will always yearn
Until my life is through.

So burning now like candlelight-
Sweet memories that soothe the night,
Remembering with all my might-
Itís all I ever do.

This love that Iím so blest to feel-
If nothing else was ever real,
May one day find a way to heal-
If you can know this too.
