This was inspired by the late Stanley Kubrik's film,'Full Metal jacket'...("I'll make ya famous!")
Tet, (short for Tet Nguyen Dan, which means 'the first day'),
the chinese new year.
Tet, celebrates the beginning of the lunar new year
when vietnamese gather
and visit the resting places of thier dead ancestors.
It was supposed by the Americans
that Tet was an occassion where fighting ceased.
In 1968 it also inspired CHARLIE to an offensive
and the Americans on the defensive.
Two days before Christmas and the NVA attacks!
VC rumors flourished in Vietnam
Vietnamese allied soldiers switched sides
and the Americans saw what the northern regime was all about!
Ho Chi Mihn's red army overwhelmed the Eagle.
In the south, Saigon was almost over run by suicide squads
Hue city, the ancient royal capital of Vietnam,
was the American response!
They say ten thousand VC persihed!
the Americans lost one hundred forty two.
The people of Hue City lost hundreds
by the hands of their own country men!
Mass graves dotted the land!
War crimes against humanity.
So instead of celebrating life
the Tet, brought death and destruction.
In honor of the soldiers who faught and died during Tet, and the people of Hue City who perished in that beautiful land called...Vietnam.

|For those of us that have only read about it,,we must never forget! For those that were there,,and their minds take them back there all too often,,we must pray that someday they will be able to forget. Lisa|

|I was there in 1968 when we in the bush knew that a cease fire was a lie. We were told to observe it. Hundreds of dead and wounded, Charlie and NVA killed thousands of their own people. It was like the killing fields in Cambodia. But our brave soldiers went in and set those people free, just as they did again in Iraq. Same unit. Marines and the 101st. I was trying to forget that site. Blood still colors my dreams.|
