Fail The Test

I dreamed that I was Abraham
And heard my Godís request
To sacrifice my only son
To prove that I was blest.
To prove I put obedience
Ahead of what I feel,
It was the worst of nightmares, but
It seemed so very real.

I said to God I can not do
The thing that He requires.
I love my son too much for that,
Iíd rather face the fires.
Iíd rather God would take my life
Than make me kill my child
For morbid curiosity.
Iíll stay unreconciled.

I fail the test of faith in God,
But what about His love?
A test like this seems far too odd
To come from up above.
So there are things I put before
Religionís strange demands,
Though some will get real mad at me
I think God understands.

Is this a test that God would give?
And did I really fail?
I think my sonís supposed to live
And I wonít go to jail.
Perhaps it was not faith at all
This test would show at last,
But if I really love my son,
If so I guess I passed.

Outstanding write...
God has given us free
will to make choices
in life...
No one alive on the face of this earth,
Has passed every test..
We must learn from
our mistakes...That's
the key in life...

Such a test would not be in keeping with the God of Love that Jesus preached about. So, if you failed, so did I, but most important so did God, for Love is not demanding is written in the new testement. Sorry if this sounds preaching! Loved the poem, and the expression of love for your son.

If He doesn't understand, he isn't God. I would hate to have to face any of the biblical tests, but I think life gives us our own choices to make, that are just as tough. Everything in its own time. Well done, John.

If you did fail this test, you would not be alone, for I think most of mankind would be in the same boat!
