There was a spider in my hand,
Black, feathery, and hot…
His eyes glowed like small red rubies-
Burning with mistrust and hate,
As though he knew I would soon crush,
His delicate body in my closed fist…
And though I hated spiders,
I paused,
For there was a spider in my hand,
And I didn’t remember putting him there…

He raised one foreleg,
As if to beg for his life,
And I was so startled,
That I let him drop from my palm-
But,
He didn’t run away-
He sat unmoving near my foot,
As though he knew what my foot could do-
And he stared at me,
With those ruby eyes…

I could sense his utter despise-
But he didn’t run from me,
He didn’t flee,
So I let him be…

I hope you had a lovely Easter. I am sorry I am not being as supportive as I should be. In fact it may be some time before you may hear from me. Hopefully one day I may return to AD. At the moment I am still searching for peace and quiet so essential to writing. Your friend Victor
