On the desert plains
of a restless brain
ceaseless memories play
through night and day,
smudging the nimble edges
of sanity's wedges
taking away
the usual ways
in which life is perceived
and thought patterns weaved
until distinctions are irrelevant,
nothing is deemed benevolent,
all things are evil,
the self is a weasel,
life is one big trial,
things sacred are vile,
life is not worth living,
and nothing is thrilling--
the haunting deception
of a diseased mind's perception--
where help is spurned
and memories churned
on the desert plains
of a restless brain.

| Mental Bondage Personified! I have known people who are possessed by such dark thoughts. Where nothing positive is allowed entrance. You captured the essence of depression and its downward spiral. Did you mean to? You have a gift of profoundly penning emotions. Your words are medicine, I hope many find them. Bravo! |
