Nocturnal Tryst

Tell me my love why you tarry
Amongst the trees in fall
Why my love you parry?
When I come to call

Why you dance in the woodlands?
Sylph-like and exquisite
Why we never hold hands
When I come to visit

You enter my life at twilight
As I start to dream
Enfolding you, I hold you tight
As we dance beside the stream

Your filigree wings quiver
Laughter fills the air
In the evening air you shiver
Dancing without a care

All to soon I waken
Your vision will disappear
The dream once more taken
Till twilight you’ll reappear
