Under The Gun

Sometimes it seems like I've worked my whole life just to earn my own personal heart attack.... :)

UNDER THE GUN

There's a feeling that I get when I go to corporate,
and I always think that I'm the only one.
Not perceptible enough, just some queasiness and stuff,
is life really all that tough,-
under the gun?

I hobnob with stuffed shirts, some of which are wearing skirts,
but the bite is just as deadly when it's done.
Still I think it's quite amusing when I find myself confusing
the ladder I've been using with the rung.
Is life really all that tough,-
under the gun?

I just cannot avoid thinking that I'm paranoid,
blinking just to stay employed, and here's the pun;
When I asked the president, of the company, I meant,
he said, “Life is like a box of chocolates,-
you never know what you are going to get.”

So I take it all in stride, walk the walk and ride the ride,
laugh and joke and appear to have great fun.
You see I just don't want to botch the chance
to move up just one notch, and dance the dance
that shows the victory I've won.
Yes, life really is quite tough,-
under the gun.

Excellent work as always, I was forced to get out from under the gun. Somehow we make it if we care enough to expend the energy to go in a different direction...
