As I write this I think of my wife. She is my soul mate and the reason for my sanity. This was written moments ago after a glance at her photograph.

I hear your call
I shove fear out of the way and rush by
I am running to meet the unknown

My sword is drawn
My shield discarded
My heart pulsating out of control
My fingers tightening about the haft of my weapon

I do not know what lies ahead
But still I go

I do not know if I will return
But still I run

This confusion gives me power
The stars give me strength
I grasp a handful of burning stars and pull myself up higher
The stars simmer against the skin of my palm

The clouds are at my feet
The wind is at my back
I ascend to the heavens
In search of my soul

A wasted journey

For my soul is with you in your keep
I caste my eyes downward
I see your face
I release my grasp and fall
I trust that you will protect me
In your heart I grow fearless
To the earth I plummet
Through the turbulent firestorm
I watch the world fade as my eyes burn within my skull

I release my weapon, for you are all of the protection that I need
I open my eyes again
You stand there with your arms wide open to receive my corporeal form
I land softly into your grasp
You are my life and my home.
