The Day God Cried

God looked down upon His son
So righteous in His eyes
He was so free from sin, He never
Stole, He never lied.
God looked down upon His son
How his heart did ache
As he watched Jesus carry the cross
To pay for our mistakes
God looked down upon His son as
They spit on His Holy face
He watched as they mocked Him
Walked Him down the streets in disgrace

God looked down upon His son as they
Nailed Him to the cross that day
God looked down upon His son
Wanted to take all His pain away
God looked down upon His son with
Glorious love and pride
All the angels gathered round Him
Thats the day that God cried

God looked down upon His son
He saw the agony He bore
He wanted to put His arms around Him
Not let Him suffer anymore
God looked down upon His son
As His blood spilled to the ground
He watched the people taunt our Saviour As they gathered all around
God looked down upon His son
Saw the pain He kept inside
Oh, the anquish He felt when
He watched Him
Thats the day that God cried

God looked down upon His son,as they
Nailed him to the cross that day.
God looked down upon His son
Wanted to take His pain away
God looked down upon His son as He
Suffered and He died
All the Angels gathered 'round Him
The day that God cried!
