On a late summer's day, you departed unexpectantly on the journey you foretold. That afternoon, a void entered my life never to be filled again.

'Twas more than thirty summers past,
when first I gazed into your flashing
eyes of deepest brown.

With an innocent's trust, I placed
my new life into your hands.

You cared, with love and gentleness,
for the young girl with dimples of
her father and shining hair of auburn.

As the young girl became a woman,
you taught her principles you held dear.

Gone are you now, Mother, yet not forgotten. Images drift into my mind of a tall, lonely raven haired beauty.

You so longed to be with one you loved, yet spent so few years this lifetime with. That summer's afternoon, you joined my father beyond the veil.
