he's just an old gray haired man
like me
can't hardely see
but that old man
can be
that old man can sing

old beard
hardely any teeth
but, by God,
he should could sing
make the words ring
with the sound
that he found
he should could write
'bout what was in his heart
'bout that part
you ain't never seen
'bout that place
you ain't never been
'bout those mighta' beens

yeah
he drinks too much
he rambles
he scrambles
& such
that ain't too much
to ask
not for the pain
he's paid
not for the words he's sang

old man
can sing a song
'bout
the rights
& the gone wrongs
& needin' ta' belong

it's an old man's song
he sings
he brings
back the memories
brings back histories
&
used ta' be's

he's just an old man
old & gray
but
by God
that old man play

by God
that old man
knows what ta' say

so Old Man
Play
& sing
let your old man's music ring
