River of Life

the Nile

the river of life
is serpentine
running many miles
liquid water of life
like the blood
an artery carries
a heart beats
the liquid beginnings
its pulsing heat
teaming life’s journey
overflowing flooded
with fertility
the seed of life

the ancient waters
the ancient blood
the valley of the womb
life’s very definition
its beginning
its ending
the liquid flood
the journey of myth

the river of life
is serpentine
running into the sea
liquid water of life
becoming one with
the divinity of creation
the heavens & earth
ancient water ways
the flood of civilization
the river of life

the Nile
