A modern sonnet-like poem about acceptance of the darkness within.

a blanket sweeps across the darkenned sky
one droplet vapor risen is to bleed
investment paid in great returns belie
the seeming smallness of the effort seed

as one is brimming full of nothingness
the needle and the hammer are the same
the meaning little shifts to meaningless
as much as amputation scares the lame

you look to me and wonder why i speak
if life be so unprecious to my brow
that moves not be the wolf known or unique
the shadowed crimson hood still hanging low

my equals seldom fire to fear my scorn
and prey the brilliant pattern cannot warn
