He sculpted life with delight --
The unique, and common place.
And in the oft-stingy, belly of night,
He prayed in his sacred, hallowed space.

Because he loved God so much,
Blessings leaped from his hands.
Existing in his exalted Midas touch,
Perfection! A benediction to God's plans.

And like most men, he sought prestige ...
So God sent him five fine balls of clay --
Five balls of splendid clay, his vestige --
Which he promptly, unwisely, put far away.

You can't teach honor to Nyx,
He back slipped and tripped ...
Fish skipped on the river Styx,
Gaily, Satan in Hades, back flipped ...

Like a dark pulpit with sizzling preachers,
Growing out of a collapse church floor,
Serpents love unholy teachers,
Who lead pupils, to hell's sweltering door.

Four sons held no decent code.
Anything at all, they'd do, for success.
Sinners do tend to implode.
Only one son, pleased God above the rest.

One son found his father's splendid clay,
And sculpted five fine tributes to our Lord.
His obedience, his payday.
Heaven opened, his reward.

My thoughts/definition for today:

1. "True Patriot" -
A term used by narrow-sighted men who will do anything
to justify their own brutal crimes and self-indulgence!

2. Kill all the dreamers, and what do you have?
Men with dull wits and too many guns!

THIS is probably my new favorite. People think Styx is just a rock and roll band. Loved your refining fererence to Midas as well. I love this kind of hmmmmm....enchanting way you used these historic names.

Thanking you,

Teresa

Good lines. What a waste of the talents. Well done.
