| A complex poem and a fascinating title. It is interesting how the title opens up different possibilities of meaning. Paris, the city of love, lovers and romance - this creates a strong sense of irony. But, if the title refers to Paris, who kidnapped Helen the poem can be read as being more directly personal and even bitter; an attempt to escape from kidnapper of your heart. Whatever, I am most impressed with this poem. It is one of the best I've read for a long time. |
