His black blood,
Stained my hands,
And though I tried
To wipe them clean,
I could still smell his life's
Fluid on my flesh...

Long ago,
When the world was still young,
We were lovers,
He and I,
Touched by the beauty
In each other's eyes-

But that was when youth was still true ,
Still clung to our souls,
When dreams were just a breath away,
And Truth and Loyalty
Never wavered or trembled or changed...

That was the time for Gods,
And Dark Castles...
Soul Searches we were,
He and I,
King of all Tomorrow,
Knight of all time to come-
Joined by love,
To a young Queen of Yesterday...

Our love,
Our coming together,
Made the world tremble,
And caught us up,
In a joy of life,
We were never to forget.
Or forgive...

Now though,
Black Knight lies dying in my arms,
His life's blood spilling onto my lap...
As I,
Dark Queen of Yesterday,
Try to hold close the widening gap...

The life of my beloved,
Seeps through my fingers,
I know it will not be long,
Before he passes,
And Eternity will end here...

I have no fear or regret,
As I draw his double-edged sword,
Deep across my ribs...
For as Adam was all to Eve,
So he is to me...

And rather that our blood mingle together,
Damned or freed,
Then for him to leave,
And I to stay...

WOW! Retta, I'm so impressed! It's lovely. To write at this depth, you've had to have suffered. The pain is real, I could feel it. Excellent.
