"The twenty-fourth of May
is the Queen's Birthday:
If they dont give us a holiday
we'll all run away!"
--- 30 ---
The steady march of years is measured
by the steady advance of my forehead
and the increase of grey in my beard;
not the march, nor advance, nor incrrease
have brought satisfaction, wisdom nor joy.
Life, it seems, has used me up, bled me
dry, patted my head, and passed me by...
But today, on this day named for a dead
queen, I marked, mocked, the passing
tide, and thumbed my nose at Lifeís
I planted my garden.
