Deep in my heart, an aging heart,
there lays sadness through a lack of love.
I cannot change what has been
nor can I relive the past.
If from time to time I smile
then it masks the tears that sometimes fall.
From time to time we will both cry
but hopefully words will dry the tears away.
Deep in my heart, an equally aging heart,
There lays a certain sadness too.
But this sadness stems not from lack of love,
But from an emptiness deep inside.
Most times I smile and pretend I'm happy,
But only those close to me sense the pain.
Only those that I allow into my heart
See the tears and help dry them with their caring words.
Deep in my heart, an always hurting heart,
Plays every single love song ever been sung,
And I listen with intent to the lyrics of love,
Feeling that they were all penned for you and me,
Every time I go to sing along I start to cry,
Wishing and praying that you were here now,
A million hit songs but only one sweet you,
Heartache, the word that was started with me,
I can't help but think of you, every image I have,
All the seconds of the day, for ever, I will love you.
Deep in my heart, a loving heart,
Is a corner saved for that special one;
The only one who could fill the emptiness
And make my life complete.
No matter where this heart of mine may roam,
Or what worldly pleasures I may seek,
That little corner will always feel like
An unfurnished room in a cold, dark house.
But the caring and loving words of friends like you,
Help to make the loneliness bearable.
~~xXx~~
