Purple and Lavender

Often times, we use colors to express our moods, our outlook and attitudes. We describe ourselves as green with envy, blue when sad, red with rage, white with fear and yellow when it comes to lack of courage. While the colors of purple and lavender are closely connected, I view them differently. Vividly brilliant and passionate is the color purple, while lavender is more of a subtle and tenderly affectionate color. I admit that the promise of passion tomorrow and the next day is stirring and exciting, truly purple in color. Ah, but I have reached a point in my life where I want the reality of loving lavender yesterday and today. Life is so uncertain--there are no guarantees. With each rising of the sun, I am appreciative, for I know that the next day may not be mine to be in this world, the next breath may not be mine to breathe, my hopes for the future may not find time for fulfillment, and my dreams of last night may never come to pass. As the eternal clock of life ticks away, my spirit has wearied of an empty house with only my own voice filling the vacant spaces in the rooms I call home. I've tired of my empty arms yearning to hold. My body is fatigued as I wait to be held within a loving embrace. Even my lips know this loneliness when they seek the sweet moistness of a tender kiss. O, before I depart this life, this world, experiencing the purple promises of passion tomorrow would be wonderful; but I truly need the sweet lavender solace of one special one loving me yesterday and today.
