Adrift

I sailed with you
across many rivers
and through raptures
that churned relentlessly.

You blanketed my fears
with your carefree smiles
and eyes that mirrored reflections
of a knight in shinning armor.

Spellbound by the lull
I slept with comfort
wrapped with warmth
you bestowed my tender heart.

I dreamed by candlelight,
soft hues of yellow,
silhouettes touching,
kissing intimately.

A breeze stirred coolness
to skim across my skin
and awakened me from a dream
of a romantic interlude.

I sat dismayed by my surroundings,
had my knight vanished
in the daylight stream, perhaps into the depths
of another who dared to dreamed?
