balanced on a beam

if i laughed
never did cry
would i smile
or just be lazy
crazy

if all i did was cry
would i ever know why?
when i die
would it just be a sigh?
a goodbye?

if all was always good
never knew the bad
would i do what i should?
or
would i just have been had?

if i were sad
would that be so bad?
maybe a tad.
remeberin' or forgettin'
just lettin'
frettin'
'bout what i had.

it's white.
it's black.
somethings
ya' never get back
to what was right.
those moments.
those times.
lost rythmns.
lost rhymes.
lost times.
maybe next times.

without the bad
what would the good be?

without the sad
what would happy be?

without both
what
would life be?
can ya' see?
how it be.

balanced on a beam

a dream

know what i mean

life's a balance.
a chance
ya' take.

fore' better or fore worse

a blessing
or a curse

a balance beam

'least that's what it seems.

yeah.
thta's what it seems

a balance beam.

I know what you mean and I can't help but wonder if we all got it wrong. Maybe someone convinced us that we need to have bad, sad, to know the good, glad. Maybe one day, somehow, someway after much time we can just be happy, just love, without haste, without waste, just love and be loved.

This felt grooving to me, and wise. I like the rhythm. Diane

Steve, really like the thoughts behind this. How can anyone know true joy, love or anything, without knowing its opposite. Excellent write!
