Edie Batstone's first book of colourful picture poems invites us to jump into a child's world of wonder and possibility, just as a child jumps into a puddle - knowing onl..
I looked at
the shell of a beetle
lying at my door
and I see myself
reflected
as never before
Once a living creature
enjoying sunshine,avoiding pain
now is but an empty shell
lying out in the rain
What a fickle mystery
this thing call life within
indeed we come as water,
we go as wind!
So, my friend, don’t waste
precious time brooding
at what was once before
enjoy yourself now !
And think
of that
poor Beetle
lying
dead
at
my door!
