have you thought about ...
letting go
of your tight hold
on my throat?

have you thought about ...
getting up
and going far
the hell away?

have you thought about ...
the possibility
that this is
the life you chose?

have you thought about ...
the idea
that you could
wash your hands clean?

have you thought about ..
a life
lived neatly
free of blood spill?

have you considered at all ...
the option
to quit
your f'ing bellyaching?

apparently not
since ...
i still feel
this hold on me
the crushing nature
and burning gut intensity
of the blame-game-flame
and your filthy hands
still reaching
for my jugular.

I think this is absolutely wonderful work you have done. I bled emotion in this, I felt. I liked the way it made a reader's mind think.

Thank you,

Teresa

I hope to God that I never piss you off! Jeeze, Anne - the intensity in that last stanza was enough to strip the veneer off my desk...I love it!

Freedom is a wonderful thing. A person can make it on their own. It may be hard but its better than that choke hold. Don't ya think. Still a very good poem.

Wise questions and advice, pretty lady. I know a few who should read this for the chokehold they have on their women, and they call it love. Sick obsession is more like it. Fine work.
