He reaches for my hand,
For he knows,
The shadows of my soul...

He knows me,
Every echo of my being,
Yet, I know him not,
Have turned away in fear-

He whispers such kind words,
But I have heard them before,
And they fall on deaf ears,
I do not believe a word he says,
Though he hopes I may one dayÖ

He reaches for my hand,
And I pull it away,
Wondering out loud,
Why we canít just hold off awhile,
How much I hate his sad smile,

Making me feel so bad,
That I have made him sadÖ
But I need him to know,
That there is no way I can show
What I am feeling tonight,
Such a terrible fright!

I donít want to be that close!
Canít start over again,
Donít even want a friend!
Can't he see,
He comes far too fast,
For my slow heart...

Wow. This is so beautiful. I'd advise: Give him a chance and let it happen. Don't fear the feelings. Love. S.

The lack of trust due to prior heartache will always reap heartache. That is what love is about and you being ready, is a great part of it too.
