I sat in the chair
and gazed at your face
sweet you are
with your nervous grace
I rubbed by eyes
as they started to blur
animals and faces
began to appear
each flew by
in flashing image
in zoetrope motion
of random selection
constant shift from
young to old
animal forms then
males and females
faster and faster
each face flew by
it must be reflections
of who you are
I think to myself
your soul's very old
there were two images
that stayed in my mind
like pictures taken
to freeze the frame
an animal face
of a young gorilla
deep set eyes
and strikingly proud
another a man
of Asian decent
skin was leathered
but he was not a farmer
honey,
don't you wonder
with all these lifetimes
within our being
why do most have
a separate feeling?
a need to own
and not to share
saying if it's mine
than it can not be yours
I realized then
I was staring again
oh gosh,
did you ask me something
and I wasn't listening?
a warm flush rolls up
the back of my neck
I nervously giggle
cause that's how I am
