A Blue Echo

It's common for people to think that hearing voices is the worst part about having schizophrenia. The depression and the apathy which precede and follow the psychosis is much worse. I wrote this poem about a time in my life, when "naught but a feeling of emptiness lingered inside of me."

Every note of passion within my soul
Died in a melancholy refrain.
This heart of mine, pumped up, inspired to inflate,
And trumpeted by the breath of fate,
Burst.
A blue echo, resounding throughout the hole
Inside, became the lone remain.
