Adrift Upon A Makeshift Raft
There are not enough words
For me to display, ones that
Just might make you see
That there is no hope for me.
Time creeps by, a staggaring pace
That will not cease. Lethargic is
Mine soul which lingers much
Too long upon memories of
Is love truly lost, cast aside
Or to the winds? Life is a
Terrible play in which we take
Our acts as they come. Tragic,
Is love, as it is lost upon
The white capped waves of sorrow.
Drift, I do now, upon a makeshift
Raft that was cast asail so long ago.
Vuneralble is mine soul as thy, by
Some mistake of chance, passes
My way on this endless, vast ocean
Set mine soul free, to walk
The waves with thee, let me
See another day give birth
To yet another day after that.
I can see land upon the horizon,
There! Can you see it too?
Or is this a mirage, a trick of the light
Upon mine eyes?
Are you the very same, a shadow
That dances in the flickering of
Candlelight as I read at night?
Inspiration hits me at the most
Unusual times, leaving me to wonder
And to cry, as life shows me the
Harsh realities of love.
